New Character Question
Hello guild wars guru people, i got a quick question for you. I have one open character slot left, and im obviously going to use it. i have every kind of character except for a dervish, ranger, and mesmer. My question is basically, which one of these proffesions is the most fun to play on and "strongest" or "most efficient" for pve usage? any feedback is very much appreciated.

Well I would suggest reading the guides of those 3 professions on guru/wiki so you can get an idea of what they can do.
Each profession got things they are good at or bad. And you said: "which one of these proffesions is the most fun to play on and "strongest" or "most efficient" for pve usage?" If you like to play a profession it will be the most efficient or strongest profession for you, even when other people say that your profession is "under powered" or other negative things. Like I said before you should look at profession guides on gw wiki, guru. Hope I helped. Last edited by cheape arie; Nov 29, 2009 at 08:41 PM // 20:41.. |

Personally, I think you will have a lot more fun with a Mesmer, than a Ranger or Dervish. Mesmers are still a class that a whole lot of un'GW'educated people don't play/like/understand, so they shove it off and slap it with a /thisclasssucks. If you gave a Mesmer a chance, you'll realize it is fun and has a lot more capabilities than people here say they do, which is true.
And a forewarning, ignore anyone here who gives short arrogant answers AGAINST a Mesmer (or any class you like) because if they shout stuff like that, they know nothing about the game. |

Ranger is the most fun imo. Rangers are a very versatile class, they have many different roles and builds. You will hardly find a spot in elite pve areas on a ranger, but playing with h&h, pugs or guild/alliance groups won't be a problem in either hm or nm.

Well, considering you're only going to make one of those it might as well not be a Dervish. Heaps of professions (War, Ranger, Assassin) can use scythes as well, if not better, than Dervs so there isn't much point making one over a Mesmer which has distinct differences.
Between Mesmer and Ranger though, go with whatever you want. I'd prefer the Ranger, just for the playstyle, but it's up to you.

Agree /w marty. Dervs are fun, but personally, they over lap too much with sins, and the sin primary makes it way easier to manage energy /w a scythe.
Mesmers are severely limited in PvE. They're a heap of fun in PvP, but if you're a primary PvE player, mesmer's most potent builds abuse PvE skills of some kind, which work just as well on mesmer secondaries, so you might as well not bother. Rangers are really the best choice since they have roles that aren't as easily replicated by other classes. |
